“Feminine” Leadership Skills

My daughter shared this article with me last week and it really struck a chord with me. My perception is that some women have felt like they had to act like a man if they wanted to be successful in the business world. However, it seems that over the past few years I’ve seen a shift occurring. I’ve seen more women leaning into their “feminine” sides, to their natural leadership skills. Taking charge in a different way, using their intuitive skills and their wisdom to create an environment that is inspiring, calming, where people feel seen, where they feel safe to truly be creative and put their ideas out there. Leading in a different way from our more traditional “male” leadership styles, which tend to be more task-oriented and autocratic. I hope this is true.

As a recruiter, I am hearing more corporate clients specifically asking for female candidates in their slate of candidates. I hope something is shifting for companies as well.

My dream is that women are realizing they bring some unique gifts to the management team and boardroom, that they will honor these skills and continue to strengthen them. I believe these “feminine” leadership skills are desperately needed, especially today and going forward in our new world.

I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on this subject….respond here or reach out to me privately. Let’s start a conversation.
